The Furniture Creation

Our furniture is built with pride and care and our carpenters are true wood craftsmen. They use traditional hand tools to build our furniture and are given time and patience to exercise this fine art. Each piece is created using time honoured carpentry techniques, from tight-fitting Mortise and Tenon joints to precision-cut Dovetails. All our furniture is built under one roof, supervised by a British trained production manager, who has extensive knowledge in the carpentry and woodworking field. Nothing is outsourced, and we do not mass produce which guarantees our quality and consistency.
  
The Furniture Collection
The collection consists of wide and varied pieces, you will find modern and contemporary to classic or traditional designs. These includes beds, daybeds, bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobes, sideboards, buffets, dressers, dining tables, dining chairs, low chairs, entertainment cabinets, bookcases and shelves, coffee tables, side tables, barstools, desks, benches, console tables, china cabinets, ottomans, fire surrounds, bathroom cabinets, mirrors and lighting and a range of unique home accessories which are made from either reclaimed or natural materials.
   

The Environment, Our Ethics
We have chosen a collection which we feel fits the look and desire of those individuals who are looking for premium solid wood furniture which truly makes a statement, but are worried about the impact on the environment. We aim to minimise these concerns by producing our furniture from 100% environmentally friendly recycled teak wood. All staff at our factory receive generous wages and benefits, in local context. We do not use any child or prison labour.

About Recycled / Reclaimed Teak

Our reclaimed teak is sourced from the purchase or barter of ‘Rumah Joglo’ - traditional Indonesian houses which have been standing between 50 to 200 years. The main frame construction and outer panels are made from teak, along with other ancient teak timbers such as railway sleepers. This lumber is carefully recovered for the creation of our unique furniture.
 
Preparation of Recycled / Reclaimed Teak
The wood is cleaned by hand with a wire brush to remove the outer weathered, oxidized coating or old varnishes or paints. Nails and other hardware are also removed. Larger holes left by previous fittings, joints or hardware are filled with chunks of wood with the same grain orientation. We overlook minor imperfections and discolorations as they are perfectly normal and add to the charm of our unique furniture. This has no effect on the stability of a completed piece, which can provided in a smooth or rustic finish.
  
Creation of Recycled / Reclaimed Teak Furniture
Careful consideration is taken into the design and creation of our furniture, knowing wood continues to absorb and exude moisture according to the humidity of its immediate surroundings. The build of our furniture allows for this natural and free wood movement, which means that wherever the furniture is located, it will be durable and self adjusting.
 
Finishing of Recycled / Reclaimed Teak Furniture
We aim to minimise the use of harmful products therefore the furniture is sanded by hand, then we apply a dark antique Coffee or Tea Brown stain and this is sealed with a coat of shellac. Finally a wax composition of natural beeswax and hard carnauba wax is rubbed onto all surfaces then polished and this provides a beautiful and durable finish to our furniture.
